Classic Reinsurance Brokers is a Zimbabwean reinsurance brokerage connecting insurance companies with regional and global reinsurance markets. Starting from an existing logo, we designed and developed a professional digital presence that structures services, products, specialty risk and insights into one clear platform, and we extended the brand across social media and business cards while providing ongoing maintenance and digital marketing guidance.
VISIT WEBSITEThe Project
Classic Reinsurance Brokers is a Zimbabwean reinsurance brokerage connecting insurance companies with leading regional and global reinsurance markets.
The organisation provides professional reinsurance broking, advisory and risk-related services designed to help insurance companies access capacity, expertise and appropriate reinsurance structures.
The current platform describes Classic Reinsurance Brokers as an independent reinsurance brokerage headquartered in Harare and serving Zimbabwe and the broader African market. Its service offering includes reinsurance broking, advisory services, specialty risk and claims advocacy.
When Classic Reinsurance Brokers approached Blacklemur Innovations, the organisation was at an important stage in establishing its digital presence. The company already had a logo and a clear ambition for national, regional and international reach.
The challenge was not simply to place the existing logo onto a website. The organisation needed a complete digital communication system.
Build a credible digital presence capable of representing the organisation locally while supporting its aspiration for national, regional and international reach.
The Challenge
Reinsurance is a specialised industry. Unlike many consumer-facing businesses, Classic Reinsurance Brokers does not primarily communicate with individual consumers.
Its core audience consists of organisations and professionals who need to understand reinsurance capacity, risk transfer, treaty and facultative arrangements, specialty risks, advisory services, market access, claims support and industry expertise.
This created a unique UX challenge. The website needed to be professional enough for senior insurance and financial-services professionals while remaining clear enough for someone encountering the organisation for the first time.
How do you communicate technical expertise without creating a technically confusing digital experience?
The Starting Point
Classic Reinsurance Brokers approached Blacklemur Innovations with an existing logo and an ambition to establish a much stronger digital presence.
At the beginning of the project, the organisation had not yet fully defined how its digital presence should look, behave or communicate. There was no complete digital system connecting brand, website, social media, services and enquiry.
This gave us an opportunity to build the digital foundation alongside the organisation. Rather than beginning with a predetermined website template, we first needed to understand who Classic serves, what problems it solves and how reinsurance clients evaluate brokers.
The Goal
The primary goal was to establish a modern, informative and credible digital presence.
Create a professional website capable of representing Classic Reinsurance Brokers to local, regional and international audiences.
Translate technical reinsurance services into understandable digital content.
Help insurance professionals quickly understand who Classic is, what Classic does, which services are available, which risks and products are covered and how to initiate a conversation.
Create a digital presence that positions the organisation beyond a single physical location.
Extend the existing identity across the website, social media, business cards and digital communications.
Build a website capable of receiving and converting traffic generated through social media, search and other digital marketing activities.
The Approach
The project ran as one connected process rather than a set of separate tasks.

Digital Positioning
A major UX objective was to make the website answer the visitor's questions quickly. The digital experience was structured around four fundamental questions.
This created a simple progression: discover, understand, evaluate, connect.
User Research
The research phase focused primarily on digital and competitive research. We examined regional competitors, Zimbabwean insurance and reinsurance organisations, African reinsurance businesses, international reinsurance brokers, international insurance-sector websites, service presentation, navigation structures, industry terminology, calls to action, content hierarchy and B2B conversion journeys.
The goal was not to copy competitors. It was to understand the digital expectations of users operating within the insurance and reinsurance sector.
Research Findings
The research kept returning to five pain points.
Potential clients needed a reliable digital destination where they could find information about Classic Reinsurance Brokers. For an organisation targeting Zimbabwe, the wider SADC region and international reinsurance markets, digital visibility was particularly important.
Reinsurance is highly specialised. A user unfamiliar with the organisation may not immediately understand the difference between reinsurance broking, advisory services, specialty risk, claims advocacy and different reinsurance products. The website needed a strong information architecture that breaks complex services into understandable categories.
Once a prospective client understood the organisation's offering, the next question was how to engage Classic Reinsurance Brokers. The website therefore needed clear contact pathways rather than forcing users to search for an email address or telephone number.
Too much technical information could make the website difficult to navigate. Too little information could make the organisation appear vague. The design challenge was finding the balance between technical authority and digital clarity.
Not every visitor arrives with the same understanding of reinsurance. Some visitors may be highly experienced insurance professionals. Others may be researching Classic for the first time. The interface therefore needed to allow users to progressively explore information.
Persona
Classic Reinsurance Brokers' primary digital audience is organisational rather than consumer-based, so the research grouped it into one central B2B persona.
Persona 01
An insurance professional looking for access to reinsurance capacity, market expertise, technical support, specialty risk solutions, advisory services and claims support. This may include insurance companies, underwriting teams, risk professionals, insurance executives, corporate decision-makers and insurance-sector partners.
Primary goal
Determine whether Classic Reinsurance Brokers can handle their specific requirements, then start a professional conversation.

Information Architecture
The website architecture was designed around the questions users were most likely to ask. The current platform follows a structure that includes Home, About, Services, Products, Specialty Risk, Insights and Contact.
The homepage surfaces service categories including reinsurance broking, advisory services, specialty risk and claims advocacy, while the product structure covers multiple insurance classes. This allows users to enter the website from different points of interest.
Design Process
The project followed a structured UX/UI design process.
We began by understanding the organisation, its market, its target audience, its services, its competitive environment and its ambitions for digital growth.
We studied regional and international organisations operating within insurance and reinsurance to understand industry conventions, navigation patterns, service presentation, content hierarchy, trust signals and B2B calls to action.
The research findings were translated into a structured sitemap establishing the relationship between company, services, products, specialty risks, insights and contact.
Early layouts were explored on paper to focus on information hierarchy, navigation, content grouping, user journeys and conversion points before committing to detailed visual design.
The layouts were converted into digital wireframes, evaluating desktop and mobile navigation, service pages, product pages, contact pathways and content density.
The low-fidelity prototype allowed us to test the overall interaction model and confirm that users could move from understanding, to exploration, to contact without unnecessary friction.
The final interface was developed to communicate professionalism, financial-sector credibility, technical expertise, modernity, trust, stability and international ambition.
The prototype demonstrated navigation, service exploration, product discovery, specialty-risk exploration, contact pathways and responsive behaviour.
Accessibility considerations were integrated into the interface as part of the design work.
The approved design was developed as a responsive digital platform.
The platform was launched and connected to the organisation's wider digital presence.
Ongoing website maintenance keeps the platform supported and up to date.
The Digital Product
The website was designed around one central principle: make a specialised organisation easier to understand without diluting its technical credibility.
Classic
Who Classic is.
Services
What Classic does.
Products
Which risk classes are covered.
Specialty Risks
Complex and emerging exposures.
Expertise
Trust and credibility.
Insights
Industry knowledge.
Conversation
A clear path to contact.
Homepage
The homepage was designed to answer three questions immediately: who are Classic Reinsurance Brokers, what do they do, and how can I engage them?
The current website opens with the positioning Your reinsurance broker and immediately explains that Classic connects insurance companies with leading reinsurance markets while providing treaty, facultative and advisory services. This creates a direct relationship between the headline and the organisation's core value proposition.

Services Experience
The service architecture separates Classic's capabilities into distinct areas. The current website identifies four principal service categories.
The UX objective was to make these capabilities discoverable without requiring the user to understand the entire organisation before finding the service relevant to them.
Products Experience
Classic works across multiple insurance product areas. The current website presents product areas including Motor Insurance, Household, Engineering, Assets All Risks, Liability Insurance, Group Personal Accident, Travel Insurance, Goods in Transit and Agriculture Insurance.
Rather than presenting these as an unstructured list, the website treats them as a product ecosystem. This allows users to move from the general service offering into a more specific area of interest.
Specialty Risk
Specialty risk required its own information architecture because these areas can involve highly specific and complex exposures. The current website identifies specialty areas including Aviation, Cyber, Construction Projects, Political Risks, Kidnap & Ransom and Marine Hull.
This creates a useful progression for users: from general services, to specialty risk, to a specific requirement, to contact.
Trust & Credibility
A B2B financial-services website needs to establish confidence without relying entirely on large amounts of text. The design therefore combines several trust signals into one coherent experience.
Insights
The insights section was designed to support ongoing content and digital marketing. It provides Classic with a mechanism to publish information around reinsurance, risk management, insurance, specialty risks, regional market developments and industry knowledge.
This is particularly useful from an SEO and digital-marketing perspective because the website can continue to expand its relevant content rather than remaining a static company profile.
The live website currently features articles on reinsurance broker selection, agricultural insurance and specialty risk across Africa.
Conversion Experience
The website was not designed around e-commerce or instant transactions. The primary conversion is a professional business conversation, supported by calls to action such as Start a conversation, Our services, Get in touch and Partner with Classic Reinsurance Brokers.
Explore
Move from the homepage into services, products and specialty risk.
Understand
Understand what Classic does and who it serves.
Evaluate
Evaluate expertise, structure and credibility.
Get in Touch
Start a professional conversation.
Contact Experience
Once a user understands the organisation's capabilities, the next step is communication. The contact experience provides clear access to the organisation.
The current website publishes the firm's Harare office location, telephone contact and email contact and provides a dedicated contact pathway. The design objective was to avoid unnecessary friction at the point where a prospective client is ready to begin a conversation.
Responsive Experience
The website needed to work across desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile. This is particularly important because professional users may discover the company from search, email, LinkedIn, shared links or mobile devices.
The mobile experience preserves the core information hierarchy while simplifying complex layouts. Important information remains accessible without requiring users to navigate a desktop-style interface on a mobile screen.
UI/UX Design
The Classic Reinsurance Brokers project demonstrates a different side of Blacklemur's design approach. For a financial and professional-services organisation, the objective was not to create visual complexity. It was to create confidence through clarity.
The interface therefore prioritises information hierarchy, professional typography, clear navigation, structured content, consistent spacing, purposeful calls to action, strong visual balance and responsive behaviour.
The design avoids unnecessary visual elements that could distract from the information users need to evaluate the organisation.
Brand Extension
The project started with a logo. The challenge was to build a broader identity around it.
The Blacklemur deliverables therefore extended into social media, business cards, the website and digital marketing, creating consistency across physical and digital interactions.
Social Media Management
Blacklemur's engagement included social media management with the objective of ensuring Classic's social presence communicates the same professional identity established on the website.
Social platforms can then act as discovery channels that direct prospective clients back to the website.
Social Media Branding
Social media templates were developed to provide Classic with a repeatable visual system. The goal was to avoid every post appearing as a completely separate design.
Digital Marketing
The website was also designed to support digital marketing activities. Service content, product pages, specialty risk pages, insights, search-friendly content, social media traffic and contact calls to action all feed into one acquisition journey.
This treats the website as a platform rather than a static brochure.
The Acquisition Journey
Social platforms, search and shared links act as discovery channels that direct prospective clients to a website built to receive and convert them.
Search / Social
Discovery through search, social media and shared links.
Website
The central digital reference point.
Service / Product
Specific areas of interest.
Trust
Evaluation of expertise and credibility.
Contact
A professional conversation begins.
The Result
The outcome of the project was a transformation from a basic brand starting point into a structured digital ecosystem.
Classic Reinsurance Brokers now has a digital platform capable of communicating who the organisation is, what it does, who it serves, which services it provides, which products it supports, which specialty risks it handles, what expertise it offers and how potential clients can engage.
The live platform currently reflects this structure through its services, products, specialty risk, insights and contact experiences.
The Impact
The project addressed the organisation's initial requirement for a digital presence capable of reaching beyond its immediate physical location. These outcomes reflect the broader Blacklemur engagement rather than the website alone.
The website communicates who Classic is and what it does from the first screen.
Services, products and specialty risks can be explored without technical overwhelm.
A complex financial services organisation made navigable.
A credible, modern platform for local, regional and international audiences.
Clear pathways from discovery to a professional conversation.
Content and structure ready to receive search and social traffic.
The identity applied consistently across website, social media and business cards.
A maintained platform that can continue to evolve with the organisation.
What We Learned
The Classic Reinsurance Brokers project reinforced six UX principles.
The underlying business may be complicated. The user's journey does not have to be.
A professional website does not need to remove technical depth. It needs to organise that depth appropriately.
For businesses with many services and products, navigation becomes part of the product itself.
The primary conversion is often not a purchase. It is the decision to start a professional conversation.
Insights and educational content provide opportunities for ongoing search visibility and thought leadership.
A website, social media post and business card should feel like they belong to the same organisation.
