What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They let the site remember things between pages and between visits — from whether you are logged in, to how a page is displayed. They are not programs and cannot carry viruses or access your files. Similar technologies (such as local storage) are covered by this policy on the same terms.

What we use on this site

We keep things simple. The cookies in use fall into two categories:

  • Necessary cookies — these keep the site functioning, such as preferences you set and security-driven session cookies. They cannot be switched off, and we do not use them to track you.
  • Analytics cookies — these are set by Google Analytics (GA4, measurement ID G-ST8L151ZCH) and tell us anonymised information such as which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, device types and approximate regions. They help us improve the site. We do not use them to advertise to you, and we do not share them with third-party advertising networks.

Why we use Google Analytics

Understanding how visitors actually use the site — which pages get read, where people drop off, whether the content we invest in is being found — is how we keep the site genuinely useful. GA4 processes this data in aggregate and gives us reports, not individual browsing histories. Google's own privacy terms apply to that processing.

Necessary cookies are set automatically because the site cannot function without them. Analytics cookies are only loaded with your consent. When you first visit, the consent control explains the choice; you can accept or decline, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing the control on this site and reloading the page.

You can also control cookies through your browser. Every major browser allows you to block third-party cookies, block all cookies, or clear cookies on exit. Doing so may affect how some features work, because preferences and sessions are themselves stored in cookies. For guidance specific to your browser, consult its help documentation. Google also offers a browser plugin that prevents Analytics from sending you data.

Third-party cookies

This site does not load advertising, social media or third-party profilers, so we do not set third-party marketing cookies. The main external services in use — Netlify (hosting) and Google Analytics — each respect their own privacy policies, and the links you follow to WhatsApp or social platforms are subject to those platforms' cookie settings, not ours.

Updates

If we change what we set — for example, adding a feature that needs a new cookie — this page is updated first. The date at the top reflects the latest version, and the consent control will ask again where the law requires it.
